For those of you have been living under a rock and don’t know what Get Out is, its a horror comedy directed by Jordan Peele and produced by Blum House. Get Out has been generating a lot buzz lately from film critics and movie goers alike (It currently holds a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes). So does Get Out live up to all the hype? To answer your question, yes! If you haven’t seen it get yourself some tickets! It is well worth your money and time!

However, I must say though I’m really shocked to think that this has 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. (To compare Shawkshank Redemption, arguably the greatest film of all time, has only has 91% and Pulp Fiction, my favorite movie,  holds a 95%) I’m not saying Get Out a bad  film, but it just doesn’t seem like the type of movie that would be  considered by critics to be the one of the greatest films of all time.

After the first opening scene the film kind of drags for about thirty minutes or so  but after that thirty minutes the film really ramps up the tension and creepiness. The second and third act are by far the best parts of the film and well makes up for the kind of slow beginning. The satire in this film is well done and it never crosses the line of being too preachy. The film did an excellent job balancing heart pounding scares and laughing out loud humor and I applaud Jordan Peele for finding that perfect balance!

If you haven’t seen Get Out I would really recommend it. Get Out is clever, tense and all around a very good horror film. While the first act tends to be a bit slow the second and third act well make up for it. Jordan Peele really hit it out of the park with this one and I hope he continues making original and thoughtful horror films. So yes it does live up to the hype, maybe not the best movie of all time, but still well worth a watch!
